Innovation Arm for Community

Whole populations of people have been harmfully left out of shaping the systems that they need to interact with, often at their most tender moments. The opportunity to design for an anti-racist future is everywhere – if we shift power to these communities and reimagine these systems in partnership with them.

Our innovation process is an intentional, community-centered methodology to support communities to design systems that enable health and self-actualization. Our process provides a structure for nurturing ideas, from defining problems experienced by community members to co-designing and testing solutions centered in their dignity and equity.

Vice President of Research & Development

Sarika

“I truly feel energized by our work because when we listen to the needs of communities and center our work in supporting them to develop solutions that address the problems they face, we cede power in a meaningful way that has the potential to actually break down the structural and racist barriers that impact their well-being and dignity."

Manager of Software Development

Ebonie

"Racial equity, justice, and liberation are consistently core passions in my life, centering on the belief that self-actualization is a human right, achieved through continuous scrutiny and interrogation of the self, community, and the systems of power that influence their destiny and the unending work of restoring power to the disempowered. This work is my daily contribution to manifesting that belief."

Research Associate

“As a woman of color and family caregiver, I feel propelled to do this work because I have experienced firsthand what it means to navigate inequitable systems; what is the point of this data and research if we don’t apply it towards systemic change, which requires shifting power back to communities and those who have been disenfranchised by centering on their voices, needs, and lived experiences?”

Director of Informatics

Scott

“I am excited to extend human dignity into our understanding of health and well-being using tools from public health and technology.”

Innovation Manager

"No one alive has experienced an anti-racist and equitable world. We cannot assert what it will look like but my experience nurturing the visions of communities has shown me that it will exist. Only community-led innovation can give shape and color to this future. It is my privilege to till the soil."
